ATHENS, 11 August – Larsen JENSEN (USA) will make his Olympic debut in Athens.  He spoke to an informal gathering of media before a training session in the main pool at the Olympic Aquatic Centre, Wednesday 11 August.

On his confidence for Athens:

"I am very confident at the moment mostly because of my terrific training camps."

"My training sets were unprecedented. I can’t believe them."

"I was doing workout after workout and feeling incredible every time."

"I did broken 1000s and was pushing 3:49s for 400m (Freestyle). I’ve never heard of anyone pushing a 3:49 in 400m, especially as part of a broken 1000. So the coaches are very encouraged."

On his confidence for the 1500m Freestyle:

"I am more confident for mile rather than the 400m (Freestyle)."

"I don’t concentrate on others but I hope can be close to Grant HACKETT (AUS) in the mile as long as he doesn’t drop (his time) too much."

"If he (HACKETT) is right out there, there is nothing I can do. I just do my best time."

"For me the sky is the limit."

On HACKETT going for a world record in the 1500m Freestyle:

"I hope he does great. He trains hard and does the work."

The Olympic Swimming programme starts Saturday 14 August.
